Welcome Back to the Black Mountain Golf Course
Reopening Soon – Play Begins on the Back Nine
We're excited to announce the phased reopening of the historic Black Mountain Golf Course as we continue recovery efforts following Tropical Storm Helene. Thanks to the dedicated staff, repairs have been completed, and play is resuming—starting with the back nine and temporary driving range. We hope the driving range introduces new players to the game and supports the practice needs of local youth golf teams.
Progress so far:
The Town has invested more than $135,000 in repairing the golf course. This is more financial investment in the recovery effort than any other aspect of recovery other than search and rescue and critical infrastructure.
Back Nine Open for Play in Mid-June
Front Nine Driving Range
Culvert & Cart Path Repairs
Irrigation System Restored
Pro Shop Renovations
What's Ahead:
Repairs to the golf cart barn, cart paths and bridges on the front nine will be underway in a few months. The Town is waiting for obligation of funds for this work.
Soon, a temporary building will be onsite to house equipment. This building will be reimbursed by FEMA.
The golf maintenance building was substantially damaged and located within a regulatory non-encroachment zone. It must be demolished and relocated in compliance with FEMA standards. This work is underway and fully reimbursable under federal disaster assistance.
We are also working to secure specialized used equipment to bridge the gap while awaiting delivery of new leased equipment.
Thank you for your patience and support.
We can’t wait to welcome you back to the course. Stay tuned for updates, which will include a date to begin booking back 9 tee times over the phone or online.
